Sermon for the Seventh Sunday After Pentecost

Friends,

Admittedly this post is a little belated, but here is the sermon from the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost. Here are the Collect and appointed readings for that day:

Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

2 Samuel 7:1-14a
Psalm 89:20-37
Ephesians 2:11-22
Mark 6:30-34, 53-56

Here are audio files of the Gospel reading and the sermon.

Friends,

Recently, the St. Paul's Chapel was opened and consecrated at the Diocesan Camp and Conference Center, Grace Point. On the way in, your clergy was having a great time and it shows in this candid photo, snapped by Don Myers.

I hope that you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed ourselves that day!

August St. Paul's YAMs Dinner

Friends,

You've asked for it, you've got it - the St. Paul's YAMs are eating dinner and hearing a speaker!

On Saturday, August 1st, at 6 p.m., the YAMs will attend a dinner in Key-Andrews Hall. During the dinner, quest speaker Becky Welchel - director Episcopal Metropolitan Ministries, will talk about the ministries there. More details on the speaker are still to come. We will have some non-YAMs as guests in attendence. Especially St. Paul's volunteers from EMM. They are there to hear the speaker and to meet us. We will be there to hear the speaker and meet them - as well as for many of the other great reasons to attend a YAMs event. If you are interested in beginning a friendship with some older folks at St. Paul's, I do hope that you will be there for this most enlightening evening. Please come and hear about this great Chattanooga Ministry.

Child care will be provided, and the cost is $6. (Please do not let the cost be a limiting factor.) Please RSVP to this invitation by July 29th.

Yours in Christ,
Bob

Fall Events Suggestions

Friends,

The time has come to begin planning for the Fall season. If you are interested in doing any events that the YAMs have not yet done, please let me know. If you are not a web-searching spambot, you will be able to get my email address from the St. Paul's website's contact page here. If you are just itching to do something as a group or you have an idea about how we might improve something that we have done in the past, please let me know. Even if you want to say that we are doing a good job, let me know that too.

Yours in Christ,
Bob
