Community Kitchen Pictures

Greetings Friends,

Here are some pictures from our recent YAMs trip to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen. Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone who came out to work. I apologize again that they were not really ready for a group so big, but I feel like, by the end of the day, we were really doing good work. I hope that everyone had a great time and enjoyed meeting Bro. Ron and all of the people there. You were all of a great help.

We will be returning to the Kitchen at the end of August. I hope to see you all again then.

Yours in Christ,
Bob

Thanks to Everyone Who Made My Birthday So Great!

Dearest friends,

I sincerely thank all of you for making my birthday so wonderful. I had no idea just how much fun a birthday party could be. I would also like to extend a few special thank you to Lawson for hosting the party and for organizing the invitations.

Andy Gill Invites Us to Watch Wimbeldon at His Home

Greetings friends,

YAM Andy Gill has graciously invited us ovver to his home on Sunday, July 5th, to watch the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Thanks to the magic of technology, Andy will record the final match while we are at St. Paul's that morning. Afterward, we will proceed to greenlife Grocery as usual. After Greenlife breaks up, we will head to Andy's home to watch the finals on his big TV. It should be a lot of fun. As the matches get closer, we should know who is playing who. I will get with Andy to send out an evite to the wider YAMs community when we are closer to the event. This evite will include directions and stuff like that. I sure hope that everyone can make it to Andy's event. Thanks to Andy for offering to host this event.

Thanks,
Bob

Pictures from the May YAMs Dinner with Speaker

Greetings friends,

Here are the pictures from the May YAMs Dinner with our Speaker, the Rev. Ann Weeks.

I certainly learned a lot from Ann - about what she does for St. Paul's as well as what she does for Chattanooga and the wider community. We are really blessed to have her here. I hope that everyone had a great time and learned a little something too.

Our next Dinner/Speaker combo will be at the beginning of August. I hope to see everyone then.
Yours in Christ,
Bob

St. Elmo Reading Center at Thankful Memorial Church

Greetings friends,

In the St. Elmo neighborhood, there is a little Episcopal Church called Thankful Memorial. What they lack in members, they more than make up for in community presence. The host a reading center for children in the St. Elmo neighborhood. On Tuesdays and Thursdays volunteers are needed to read for the children and youth that participate in the Summer Reading Program. If you are interested, please contact Linda Cooper at Lindacoop AT comcast DOT net.

I hope that some of you will consider this if you are here this summer and find yourself without much to do.

Yours in Christ,
Bob

YAMs Dinner with Speaker

YAMs dinner and speaker – May 22nd

On Friday, May 22nd, at 6 p.m., the YAMs will gather in Key-Andrews Hall for a meal and remarks from a guest speaker. Our speaker will be our Deacon, The Rev. Ann Weeks. Ann will talk to us all about the ministries of a Deacon in broad sense and about her ministries in this area and at St. Paul's. She will also share some of her story of how she got to this vocation. This should be a great time for all. Child care will be provided, and the cost is $6. (Please do not let the cost be a limiting factor.) Please RSVP to leopold@stpaulschatt.org by May 20th.

Yours in Christ,
Bob

P.S. The Evite can be viewed here.

P.P.S. I have added some pictures here.

Once again our calendar of events has gotten buried under all of the other things that we do together. This is a good problem to have, rest assured. But, every so often, I have to re-post the calendar, so that folks can see it.

National Food Drive

Greetings friends,

This Saturday, May 9th, is the National Food Drive day. Basically, this Saturday you may leave a bag of non-perishable food items by your mail box and the post office will "deliver" them to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to "stamp out hunger." Kat let me know about this great opportunity, which is definately, as she said, "not getting any press." So, here I am trying to fight that in my own small way. She called our post office in order to make sure that Chattanooga is a participating city and we are! Yay! Please consider leaving some food for the needy this Saturday. More information can be found here.

Thanks,
Bob

Church Fun Hunt Pictures

Greetings friends,

I really, really, really want to thank everyone who came out for the 1st Annual St. Paul's Fun Hunt. I hope that eveyone was able to hunt up some fun. This was our biggest YAMs event thus far - we had about 25 all told (plus some little ones). I was planning for about 20 (including little ones). What a great problem to have, though. I will always welcome more folks. Unfortunatly, this large number meant that some folks didn't get to eat at all or only got to eat a little. For this I sincerely apologize. Nevertheless, I hope that everyone had a good time besides and I learned lots of lessons for next year (among them: order more food).

Below are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I hope to see even more folks next year! The St. Paul's folks that you encountered were very impressed with all of you and they had no idea what the YAMs were like or what we are up to. I hope that they get it a little better now and they will share with other parishioners at St. Paul's.

Yours in Christ,
Bob
